The Panther was developed by MAN in 1941–1942 as a response to the Soviet T-34. It carried a smaller-caliber gun than the Tiger and was classed by the Germans as a medium tank, though Soviet assessments of its combat and technical characteristics placed it among the heavy tanks. The Panther’s 75mm gun outperformed the Tiger’s main armament, the 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56, in armor penetration. The model is fully mobile — the turret rotates a full 360 degrees.
