This is a double-sided pendant. “Lunnitsa” refers to the waxing crescent of the night’s luminary, the Moon. It is the tender, tranquil moon that is held to be a symbol of the feminine principle, just as the fiery sun symbolizes the masculine. The Lunnitsa talisman is, at its root, a women’s amulet; in fact, it has been known for thousands of years not only among the Slavs, but also in Eastern Europe, Ancient Egypt, and the countries of Asia.
