This is a stylized replica of an 11th–12th-century kolt found in the Chernigov region. A kolt was a piece of Old Russian women’s jewelry from the 11th–13th centuries — a metal temple pendant attached to a headdress, often decorated with granulation, filigree, enamel, or niello work. Kolts have been found among the contents of many hoards across the lands of Kievan Rus’.
