This is a take-apart piece — the rider can be removed from the horse. It depicts a private of the British Army’s 17th Lancers, 1854. The 17th Lancers (Duke of Cambridge’s Own), a cavalry regiment raised in 1759, are remembered for their part in the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War; on 25 October 1854 the regiment fought at the Battle of Balaclava.
